  4. Total stories/poems/contests pending responses: 1

Next month I’ll take that pending response off… it’s for something I submitted over a year ago. A slush reader replied it was still under consideration a few months ago – I haven’t heard anything since then and when I went to the site today nothing new has been published for a few months.

Happy Sunday

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. That averaged to 125 words a day and now I have to write more since I’m behind. No new words this week.

Goal: 10,000 Words
Words Written: 2039
Progress: Behind But Can Still Catch Up

I kept busy this week working on Savvy Authors Summer Symposium miniworkshops. They pack a lot of assignments into a four day window. It’s all good and I did limit myself so I wouldn’t be overstretched. Oh, and in case you’re wondering… I have some bachelorette time coming up in about 2 weeks. Words will flow!

Happy Thursday! I didn’t get my check-in ready in time to post it yesterday though there isn’t really anything new to report.

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. That averaged to 125 words a day and now I have to write more since I’m behind. No new words since Saturday.

Goal: 10,000 Words
Words Written: 2039
Progress: Behind But Can Still Catch Up

What’s been keeping me busy this week? A critique class at Savvy Authors and now their Summer Symposium which is full of mini-workshops. I have limited myself to only a few. Oh, and this guy…

He’s been in his e-collar for almost a month now. On Monday the Resident Corgi had a second keratotomy. I hope this one works.

Happy Sunday!

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. That averaged to 125 words a day and now I have to write more since I’m behind. I had a big jump in words this week.

Goal: 10,000 Words
Words Written: 2039 (that’s 743 new words since last Sunday!)
Progress: Behind But Can Still Catch Up

How did I do it? During the beginning of the week, I use my mornings to watch TrueBlood and any cooking shows I recorded from the weekend. After getting those out of the way that gave me some 20 – 30 minute chunks in the morning to just write. So that’s what I did.

July 2011

Posted in Status Report, Writing at 10:24 pm by Amber

Goodness! I just realized I never posted my stats for July. They won’t be a surprise to anyone but I know if I wanted a few more weeks to post then I’d feel weird.

These statistics are all for short stories, poems, or contest entries. Book reviews are not included.

  1. Sales in July: 0
  2. Rejections in July: 0
  3. Submissions sent out in July: 0
  4. Total stories/poems/contests pending responses: 1

I signed up to do a story a week challenge and that’s not been going well. I’m sorely behind in my ROW80 goal to write another 10k words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. On the plus side, I’m feeling up my writing notebook with snippets of ideas. The short stories are part of the next ROW80 goals for me.

ROW80 Sunday Check-in with Random Thoughts

Posted in Event, Writing at 10:58 am by Amber

Happy Sunday!

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. That averages to 125 words a day. I’ve written nothing new this month. There are about 7 weeks until the end of this round. I’m going to have to get my behind in gear if I’m going to make my goal. Yeah, I know I can modify it – but I want to finish this original goal. I plan on doing Round 4 and I have a completely different goal in mind for those 80 days.

Goal: 10,000 Words
Words Written: 1204
Progress: Behind But Can Still Catch Up

Here are some random thoughts for the week:

  • The last few months I’ve been watching The Wire. I noticed George Pelecanos worked on it. (I read last year.) When I saw him in an interview at the Museum of the Moving Image I was surprised at how young he was. At that time he was in his late 40’s and I expected him to be older because he’s worked on so much.
  • Since Tuesday I’ve been fighting off sinus problems. I haven’t had such pressure behind my nose in years. Things have been better the last few days.
  • I haven’t wanted to touch the computer this week. I think this explains why I didn’t do check-ins for last Sunday or Wednesday.

ROW80 Midweek Check-in August 3rd and Procrastination

Happy Wednesday!

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. That averages to 125 words a day. I’ve written nothing new this month.

Goal: 10,000 Words
Words Written: 1204
Progress: Behind But Can Still Catch Up

What are your favorite ways to procrastinate from writing? I found myself with a free evening last night. I even told my husband I was going to write.

Instead, I spent time on my desktop (it’s older and needs some more memory so it takes a long time to do stuff on it). Let’s count the ways in which I procrastinated:

  1. Downloaded pictures from my digital camera.
  2. Listened to old favorites on iTunes and listened to samples of new music.
  3. Updated Quicken.
  4. Emailed all of the recognizable ebook files to be added to my Kindle.
  5. Synched up my smart phone.
  6. Charged and synched up my mini iPod.
  7. Added the ebook titles into my LibraryThing collection.
  8. Updated my Niteblade interview spreadsheet.

Four hours gone and not a written word. And I still had things I could do to procrastinate. I guess I’ll do them in a few days. How are you doing on your ROW80 or writing goal?

Happy Sunday!

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. That averages to 125 words a day. I’ve been doing some writing this week so I’m still a little behind but have room to catch up.

Someone in their initial ROW80 post said they’d do weekly check-ins but not two as it seemed a bit much. I’ve found that doing a check-in makes me think about doing my writing and that’s something I need during the week.

Goal: 10,000 Words

My goal for Round 3 of A Round of Words in 80 Days is to write another 10,000 words on my unfinished fantasy manuscript. I did the math and that averages to 125 words a day. As of today I should be up to 3,000 words.

I’ve made some progress in the last few days. Encouraging comments left on my blog let me know I’m not in this alone. Also, I keep thinking about the 5k+ days I’ve put in the last two NaNoWriMos and how painful they were. I don’t want or need self induced stress so I try to minimize it as much as possible. And it turns my right hand into a claw from typing so much.

Goal: 10,000 Words

If one of your goals is to edit a novel, I recommend EditPalooza at Savvy Authors. There is a new one starting in September. It fills up pretty quickly but as they get more editors to agree to work with the group, more spaces become available. I did one earlier this year for another unfinished novel which helped me use different writing muscles.
