Blogging Tips

The topic posted over at My Friend Amy for Day #3 was about blogging.

We’ve been doing a great job talking about books, but what about blogging? It’s half of what we do. What better way to show our appreciation than to share our very best tips.

So, today, I ask you to answer two questions in any way you please…

What is one thing you wish you knew about blogging when you started or what advice would you give a newbie blogger?

What is your best blogging tip?

I hope a lot of you participate, because I can’t wait to see what you have to say. I’m always looking for more tips. As usual, please please leave a link to your specific post and not your general URL. And link back to this specific post. There may be a surprise giveaway for participants. 😉

The one thing I wish I knew when I started blogging is how I would read on screen.  I am somewhat serious in nature with a fun, joking side to me.  Sometimes when a joke slips out the joke itself is not what people find funny but the surprise timing of it.  My voice in my posts tend to run towards the more serious side of things which isn’t always my intent.

I have two best blogging tips… (1) try to allow yourself plenty of time to write your posts, review them, spellcheck and proofread them – even after all that work there may still be something wrong and (2) utilize the Post Later function.  My Monday blog posts usually get started on Sunday and finished on Monday.  If I’m lucky enough to get the post done before Monday then I’ll set the date and time for posting beforehand.  This is especially great when on vacation.

  1. I just started using the post later function. It really has helped me get a head start on BBAW. I had written a few posts ahead of time and they just had to post when I told them to. It was relaxing for a few days and allowed me to catch up on everyone else’s posts this week.

  2. Good tips! I’m so glad I discovered the post later function! It helps tremendously, especially since I have more time to blog on the weekends.

  3. Hi Amber. Thanks for stopping by earlier. I think that yiu have such an important tip and I am learning to implement all of your steps. It saves so much trouble in the long run. I have also started writing my post as I am reading whatever it is that I am reading. It makes it so much easier to remember what I was feeling as I was reading the book.
