Inspiring Others To Give!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the good things to come out of NaNoWriMo is the donation program and how it inspires others to give.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Donations can be made directly to The Office of Letters and Light or through the purchase of NaNoWriMo related items in their shop.\u00c2\u00a0 The first year I participated in NaNoWriMo the donations (after operating expenses were paid for) went towards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roomtoread.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Room to Read<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0and libraries were built.\u00c2\u00a0 Now the money (after operating expenses) goes towards <a href=\"http:\/\/ywp.nanowrimo.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">NaNoWriMo&#8217;s Young Writers Program<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jamie Grove of &#8220;How Not To Write&#8221; is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hownottowrite.com\/nanowrimo\/nanowrimo-halo-giveaway-30-halos\/\" target=\"_blank\">giving away 30 halos to NaNoWriMo particpants<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0who would like to donate but find themselves unable to do so.\u00c2\u00a0 If you feel you qualify, you have until noon EST on Friday, October 31st, to fill out the form on his site.\u00c2\u00a0 (You have less than 12 hours.)\u00c2\u00a0 Jamie has some great posts on how to prepare for NaNoWriMo.\u00c2\u00a0 November 1st is almost here!<\/p>\n<p>Author Lisa Logan is sponsoring a <a href=\"http:\/\/authorlisalogan.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/nanofavliwrimo-contest.html\" target=\"_blank\">Best NaNoWriMo Line Contest<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 You may post your favorite line from your NaNoWriMo novel daily and each week she&#8217;ll pick her favorite one to feature.\u00c2\u00a0 At the end of NaNoWriMo she&#8217;ll pick the best from the weekly favorites for a Starbucks gift certificate.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/community.livejournal.com\/urbanfantasyfan\/210802.html?thread=832114\" target=\"_blank\">Urban Fantasy Fans community at LiveJournal<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0is giving away prizes to its first (and possibly up to three) member(s) who finish NaNoWriMo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.redroom.com\/nanowrimo-contest&amp;utm_campaign=NaNoWriMo2008?utm_source=Internal&amp;utm_medium=Webpage&amp;utm_term=LandingPage&amp;utm_content=ContestPage\" target=\"_blank\">Red Room is offering their own contest<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0for registered users with complete profiles who write a blog entry about NaNoWriMo, tag it with NaNoWriMo 2008 and obtain winner status on the NaNoWriMo web site.\u00c2\u00a0 The winner will receive a personal coaching session with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redroom.com\/author\/ivory-madison\" target=\"_blank\">Ivory Madison<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 The session will consist of a\u00c2\u00a0three-hour manuscript review and a one-hour book coaching call.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure NaNoWriMo has inspired others to do giveaways but these were the only ones I could find.\u00c2\u00a0 The satisfaction of writing words (whether or not you reach 50,000) that wouldn&#8217;t have been written otherwise is reward enough but these links may give you some extra incentive to finish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the good things to come out of NaNoWriMo is the donation program and how it inspires others to give.\u00c2\u00a0 Donations can be made directly to The Office of Letters and Light or through the purchase of NaNoWriMo related items in their shop.\u00c2\u00a0 The first year I participated in NaNoWriMo the donations (after operating&hellip;
