In the aftermath of a tragic spring day, the people of Stansbury, Vermont, are unable to forget what happened, as they have all the tragedies of their past. After the media exploited their pain, they have become uneasy with the world beyond their town and with any outsiders.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of the media deluge, latecomers straggle into Stansbury looking to pick up the scraps of stories left behind. What they find, however, is that the powerful forces that have guided the destinies of the people of the town for hundreds of years are now at war with one another and in need of pawns.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of Spring, there is Summer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Earlier today I reviewed Lakebridge: Spring<\/em><\/a>. Lakebridge: Summer<\/em> is the second book in the supernatural horror literary fiction Lakebridge Cycle series. These can be read as standalone books but are more enjoyable together.<\/p>\n

Shelley, the current apothecary counter girl, is one of the sweetest characters you’ll ever read. She wants nothing more than to be the star of her own romantic comedy. Gil, her best friend and\u00c2\u00a0a constant source of bad luck, wants to hide away from humanity to keep any other Stansbury resident from getting hurt.\u00c2\u00a0What they want the most is to have Stansbury back the way it was before the spring tragedy which took so many lives.<\/p>\n

While Lakebridge: Spring<\/em> was grounded in the physical present, Lakebridge: Summer<\/em> has more spiritual and supernatural elements to it. The Stansbury residents can’t forget the past like they’ve forgotten past tragedies. Those who have seen the angel with the horrible eyes knows something else is going to\u00c2\u00a0 happen in town but they can’t bring themselves to leave.<\/p>\n

The character’s stories\u00c2\u00a0aren’t neatly tied up at the end but hope is offered up to entice you into reading the third book in the Lakebridge Cycle. Ms. Troop offers solid storytelling about the residents of Stansbury, Vermont.<\/p>\n

Natasha grew up in Southern California and received her Bachelor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s degree from UCLA in Comparative Literature. She also holds Masters Degrees in both Secondary Education and Creative Writing. Natasha currently lives in the Phoenix area with her spouse, son, daughter and menagerie of pets, including a Basset named Moose and a very overprotective collie dog.
