Supposedly it’s being made into a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio but you know how some things in production sometimes never make it off the ground. It was a great book to start off my reading year. Sprinkled with bits of written correspondance and journals it captures the difficulties and pressure that comes with putting on a show for the entire world.<\/p>\n

There are two main characters who use the Chicago’s World Fair for different purposes. Daniel Burnham,\u00c2\u00a0an architect, later became one of the first city planners in the country. The death of his business partner while planning the World Fair made Burnham come into his own. Dr. H. H. Holmes was a serial killer who used the influx of visitors (especially single women) to get his victims.<\/p>\n

It’s an extraordinary tale of these two men and how one event would have a lasting impact on the United States.<\/p>\n
