{"id":3151,"date":"2011-03-25T14:05:26","date_gmt":"2011-03-25T18:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=3151"},"modified":"2011-03-25T14:05:26","modified_gmt":"2011-03-25T18:05:26","slug":"ian-rankin-on-npr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=3151","title":{"rendered":"Ian Rankin on NPR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2011\/03\/24\/134797487\/ian-rankin-switches-to-a-new-hero-in-complaints?ft=1&amp;f=1057\">NPR interview with Ian Rankin<\/a> is going to add another book to my TBR pile.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve heard of him but haven&#8217;t read anything by him.<\/p>\n<p>The title of his newest book is <em>The Complaints<\/em> and features an internal affairs\u00c2\u00a0police officer, Malcolm Fox.\u00c2\u00a0 He sounds like a straitlaced\u00c2\u00a0sort of guy trying to do what&#8217;s expected of him to the best of his ability.\u00c2\u00a0 Rankin mentioned people seemed to like Fox even though he&#8217;s very different from his famous Detective Inspector Rebus.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thinking about it, there are some people who want such a character right now.\u00c2\u00a0 People will always use books to escape from their ordinary lives but isn&#8217;t it nice to have a character\u00c2\u00a0who could be someone who lives on your street?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s NPR interview with Ian Rankin is going to add another book to my TBR pile.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve heard of him but haven&#8217;t read anything by him.
