{"id":2946,"date":"2010-11-10T18:45:34","date_gmt":"2010-11-10T23:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=2946"},"modified":"2010-11-10T15:03:44","modified_gmt":"2010-11-10T20:03:44","slug":"nanowrimo-2010-check-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=2946","title":{"rendered":"NaNoWriMo 2010 Check-In #1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I decided this year to do another draft of my 2008 project titled <em>Three Girls, a Corgi and a Dead Body<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 The new working title, which I&#8217;m not so crazy about, is <em>The Fairy Book Guardians.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>It makes me think of <em>Guardian<\/em> by Katie Hines and <em>The Storm Guardians<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m about to start my writing for the day and I&#8217;m woefully behind where I should be.\u00c2\u00a0 Using a slow and steady pace, I should be just over 15000 words to be on target for finishing on November 30th.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead I&#8217;m at 6254 words &#8211; I think it&#8217;s because my inner editor has been telling me this should be a second draft and I&#8217;ve been listening.<\/p>\n<p>So I gave her a smushing last night.\u00c2\u00a0 I pointed out that this is still a first draft. After all, it&#8217;s not smart to rename some of your characters so you end up with Marty, Mari, Mark and Missy in some of the same scenes but because it&#8217;s a first draft it&#8217;s okay.\u00c2\u00a0 And that guy who was the dead husband&#8217;s best friend in the 2008 version &#8211; he&#8217;s now the antagonist.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s really selfish too.\u00c2\u00a0 Last night was my second highest daily word count.\u00c2\u00a0 I think my word count is going to be better from here on out.<\/p>\n<p>Any roadblocks to your writing success?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I decided this year to do another draft of my 2008 project titled Three Girls, a Corgi and a Dead Body.\u00c2\u00a0 The new working title, which I&#8217;m not so crazy about, is The Fairy Book Guardians.\u00c2\u00a0 It makes me think of Guardian by Katie Hines and The Storm Guardians.
