{"id":2912,"date":"2010-11-01T00:34:42","date_gmt":"2010-11-01T04:34:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=2912"},"modified":"2010-11-01T00:34:42","modified_gmt":"2010-11-01T04:34:42","slug":"mailbox-monday-november-1st","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=2912","title":{"rendered":"Mailbox Monday &#8211; November 1st"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-892\" title=\"Mailbox Monday\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/mailbox.gif\" alt=\"Mailbox Monday\" width=\"121\" height=\"198\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A big thank you to\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jewelknits.blogspot.com\/\">Knitting and Sundries<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0for hosting Mailbox Monday during November.<\/p>\n<p>I had no idea I would be getting so many books this week.\u00c2\u00a0 Earlier in the year I registered for the World Fantasy Convention and it was this weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 Each attendee received a bag of goodies which included samples of new titles and a lot of books.\u00c2\u00a0 Really.\u00c2\u00a0 The convention had a book swap table which always seemed to magically refill with more books.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16\" title=\"Mailbox Monday Nov 1 2010\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/MM110110.jpg\" alt=\" Mailbox Monday Nov 1 2010\" width=\"162\" height=\"240\" \/> This is a picture of the new books I received on Friday.\u00c2\u00a0 These included:<br \/>\n<em>Highborn<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yvonnenavarro.com\/\">Yvonne Navarro<br \/>\n<\/a><em>Fatal Circle<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wolfsbaneandabsinthe.com\/\">Linda Robertson<\/a> &#8211; (I finished Vicious Circle over the weekend and enjoyed it.) Waltz<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Libyrinth<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/us.macmillan.com\/author\/pearlnorth\">Pearl North<br \/>\n<\/a><em>White Cat<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackholly.com\/\">Holly Black<\/a> -\u00c2\u00a0While Holly was signing my book\u00c2\u00a0she mentioned it was the first time she&#8217;d had a book in the convention swag bag and she was excited about it.<br \/>\n<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.family-style.com\/elfworld.html\">Elfworld Volume 1<\/a><\/em> by various comic artists<br \/>\n<em>The Best of Gene Wolfe: A Definitive Retrospective of His Finest Short Fiction<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gene_Wolfe\">Gene Wolfe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Books from Saturday include:<br \/>\n<em>The Man from Beijing<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.henningmankell.com\/\">Henning Mankell<\/a> &#8211; My husband and I went to Half Price Books after having a nice dinner and this is the one thing I allowed myself to get. Earlier this year I heard him read part of the first chapter on NPR.<br \/>\n<em>The Exiled Queen<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cindachima.com\/\">Cinda Williams Chima<br \/>\n<\/a><em>The Candidates<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inarascott.com\/\">Inara Scott<br \/>\n<\/a><em>Bloodshot<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheriepriest.com\/\">Cherie Priest<\/a> &#8211; This is an ARC and while I&#8217;ve often wanted to read her books I just haven&#8217;t found the time.<br \/>\n<em>Fangs for the Mammaries<\/em> edited by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sff.net\/people\/e.friesner\/\">Esther Friesner<\/a> &#8211; I went to a few panels that featured Esther and thought she was funny. She has a new book out in March that sounds perfect for me called <em>Threads and Flames<\/em>. It&#8217;s about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.<br \/>\n<em>Shotgun Sorceress<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sff.net\/people\/lucy-snyder\/\">Lucy A. Snyder<\/a> &#8211; Lucy signed this one for me during the mass author signing held on Saturday night.<br \/>\n<em>Winter Witch<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elainecunningham.com\/\">Elaine Cunningham<br \/>\n<\/a><em>Night of Knives<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malazanempire.com\/site\/authors\/2-esslemont\">Ian C. Esslemont<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Books from Sunday were few:<br \/>\n<em>Neuropath<\/em> by <a href=\"http:\/\/rsbakker.wordpress.com\/\">R.
