A big thank you to\u00c2\u00a0Avis at\u00c2\u00a0shereadsandreads<\/a><\/span> for hosting Mailbox Monday.<\/p>\n I finally figured out where The Reliable Wife from last week came from.\u00c2\u00a0 It was an afternoon siesta win from Algonquin Books during BBAW. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n Two books arrived in my mailbox this week.\u00c2\u00a0 The first was an ARC of Lawrence Block’s A Drop of the Hard Stuff<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s one of the first books to launch the Mulholland Books imprint of Little, Brown and Company.<\/p>\n Grandmaster Lawrence Block brings his greatest character, Matthew Scudder, back into action in his most personal case to date.<\/p>\n Matthew Scudder is finally on the straight and narrow when he runs into \u00e2\u20ac\u0153High-Low\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Jack Ellery, a childhood friend from the Bronx. In Scudder, Jack sees the moral man he might have become. In Jack, Scudder sees the hard-won sobriety he hopes to achieve.
