I read them many years ago around the same time and often get the plots confused with each other so combine them in my mind.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always thought of them as one book.\u00c2\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how I described the plot to my husband: &#8220;There&#8217;s a brother that dies and his ex-girlfriend sees the living brother and tells him that she may be pregnant with his dead brother&#8217;s child.\u00c2\u00a0 And it&#8217;s very gothic.\u00c2\u00a0 And has ghost in the title.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Maybe that&#8217;s a\u00c2\u00a0book I should write. :)\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I still haven&#8217;t figured out which\u00c2\u00a0novel involved the brothers but the gothic book with ghost in the title is <em>The Ghost Writer<\/em>by\u00c2\u00a0John Harwood.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00c2\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2782  aligncenter\" title=\"Ghost Writer\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Ghost-Writer.jpg\" alt=\"Ghost Writer Book Cover\" width=\"140\" height=\"211\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a gothic tale with several layers to it.\u00c2\u00a0 Gerard Freeman finds a hidden drawer of his mother&#8217;s where he sees a picture of a mysterious woman he knows nothing about.\u00c2\u00a0 His mother is not happy at all when she finds out he knows about the photograph.\u00c2\u00a0 They are close and she often tells him stories of her idyliic childhood on the family estate.\u00c2\u00a0 A few years later Gerard strikes up a pen pal relationship with a girl about the same age who is disabled.\u00c2\u00a0 Eventually he goes to his mother&#8217;s childhood house to learn &#8220;the truth&#8221;
