Rose on Promotion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday while driving to the farmer&#8217;s market to pick up my meat (I&#8217;ve belonged to a meat CSA since last fall) I was treated to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=127879472\">NPR interview with M.J. Rose<\/a> on marketing and promotion.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t read any of her books but I do recall seeing <em>The Hypnotist<\/em> recently on several book blogs.\u00c2\u00a0 Rose is right.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s really difficult to get your book to stand out from the thousands of other books published that year.\u00c2\u00a0 And to keep the momentum going is difficult too!\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So many good books get published and it&#8217;s not easy to read them all in the first year.\u00c2\u00a0 It seems that&#8217;s when the sales have the most impact on future book contracts.\u00c2\u00a0 Though none of my novels have been published, I do have friends who have their novels in bookstores and available online.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What makes\u00c2\u00a0a book\u00c2\u00a0or author\u00c2\u00a0stand out to you?\u00c2\u00a0 Is it the buzz you hear?\u00c2\u00a0 An interview?\u00c2\u00a0 A regularly updated blog?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday while driving to the farmer&#8217;s market to pick up my meat (I&#8217;ve belonged to a meat CSA since last fall) I was treated to a NPR interview with M.J.
