Book reviews are not included.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Sales in April: 0<\/li>\n<li>Rejections in April:\u00c2\u00a02<\/li>\n<li>Submissions sent out in April:\u00c2\u00a01<\/li>\n<li>Total stories\/poems\/contests pending responses:\u00c2\u00a01<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So the poetry contest winner reading came and went around tax day.\u00c2\u00a0 Guess who wasn&#8217;t there?\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I did send an entry this week for a <em>Writer&#8217;s Digest<\/em> 10th Anniversary contest.\u00c2\u00a0 The contest was to write an opening sentence based on a picture incorporating the number 10.\u00c2\u00a0 One of the difficulties was the 35 word limit.\u00c2\u00a0 Entries were due by May 14 (I submitted early!) and the winners will be published in the September issue.<\/p>\n<p>One thing I learned this month was to finish what I start.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00c2\u00a0have several essays and stories begun for contests or themed submissions.\u00c2\u00a0 Once the deadline passes, the piece usually gets dropped.\u00c2\u00a0 Sounds a little bit like my exercise regime.\u00c2\u00a0 One essay and one short story would have been perfect to polish off and submit this past month.\u00c2\u00a0 The essay wasn&#8217;t finished and the short story didn&#8217;t have the rewrites completed to make\u00c2\u00a0it better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These statistics are all for short stories, poems, or contest entries.
