{"id":1944,"date":"2009-09-17T07:49:04","date_gmt":"2009-09-17T11:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=1944"},"modified":"2009-09-17T07:49:04","modified_gmt":"2009-09-17T11:49:04","slug":"bookmarks-are-like-socks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=1944","title":{"rendered":"Bookmarks are like Socks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/BBAW_Celebrate_Books_09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1920  aligncenter\" title=\"BBAW_Celebrate_Books_09\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/BBAW_Celebrate_Books_09.jpg\" alt=\"BBAW_Celebrate_Books_09\" width=\"295\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I have a theory.\u00c2\u00a0 There must be an elf in my house.\u00c2\u00a0 He doesn&#8217;t live in the dryer taking socks.\u00c2\u00a0 He hides in the attic, comes out when everyone is asleep, and takes my bookmarks.\u00c2\u00a0 The elf is considerate &#8211; he waits until I am done with the book to remove the bookmark.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously&#8230; I honestly don&#8217;t know what happens to them.\u00c2\u00a0 I have honest to goodness real bookmarks.\u00c2\u00a0 Most were purchased for me as gifts.\u00c2\u00a0 But I do\u00c2\u00a0use movie postcards and a really nice ticket from the 2005 Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit from the Art Institute of Chicago.\u00c2\u00a0 They aren&#8217;t conventional bookmarks but they not only keep my place in the book, they let me gauge how much is left to read.<\/p>\n<p>So you know what I usually use since I can&#8217;t find my bookmarks?\u00c2\u00a0 Library slips.\u00c2\u00a0 My library provides a slip of paper with the due dates of checked out materials.\u00c2\u00a0 They are flimsy and it can be difficult to find my place again.\u00c2\u00a0 But the elf doesn&#8217;t take them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a theory.\u00c2\u00a0 There must be an elf in my house.\u00c2\u00a0 He doesn&#8217;t live in the dryer taking socks.\u00c2\u00a0 He hides in the attic, comes out when everyone is asleep, and takes my bookmarks.\u00c2\u00a0 The elf is considerate &#8211; he waits until I am done with the book to remove the bookmark.
