{"id":1669,"date":"2009-06-29T10:36:34","date_gmt":"2009-06-29T14:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=1669"},"modified":"2009-06-29T10:36:34","modified_gmt":"2009-06-29T14:36:34","slug":"adaptability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=1669","title":{"rendered":"Adaptability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Isn&#8217;t it amazing how adaptable people and plants are?<\/p>\n<p>For twelve days I&#8217;ve had no hot water.\u00c2\u00a0 We called our home warranty company that first morning.\u00c2\u00a0 Plumbers, purchasing departments and so on seem to run on different time tables than the rest of us.\u00c2\u00a0 I was surprised to\u00c2\u00a0receive a phone call yesterday informing me of our two options to replace our water heater.\u00c2\u00a0 Who knew the home warranty company worked on Sundays?\u00c2\u00a0 The first option was to have the current plumber install a new water heater and pay the extra money to bring the new system up to code and the second was to give us $500 to take care of the issue ourselves.\u00c2\u00a0 Not wanting to delay\u00c2\u00a0the replacement\u00c2\u00a0we went with the first option.\u00c2\u00a0 To adapt, we&#8217;ve been heating up water for washing dishes and taking cold showers.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/hydrangea.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1671  aligncenter\" title=\"hydrangea\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/hydrangea.jpg\" alt=\"hydrangea\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/hydrangea.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/hydrangea-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When we moved into our house there were two beautiful Endless Summer Hydrangea bushes on the Southeast corner yard.\u00c2\u00a0 This is what one of the plants looked like last summer.\u00c2\u00a0 Thinking it needed some pruning to get more flowers this year, I trimmed them back down to the dirt like the other hydrangea bushes around the neighborhood.\u00c2\u00a0 In November.\u00c2\u00a0 That was not good in many ways.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Right now\u00c2\u00a0the bushes are either dormant or dead.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll know for certain next year.\u00c2\u00a0 The funny thing is&#8230; the two bushes are now four.\u00c2\u00a0 One of the branches rooted into the ground where I could see it but I left it alone last year wondering what would happen to it.\u00c2\u00a0 Another branch rooted below ground which I didn&#8217;t know about.\u00c2\u00a0 If I had one of those round garden stakes to keep the branches straight the bush wouldn&#8217;t have reproduced.\u00c2\u00a0 Isn&#8217;t it funny how plants and people adapt to their environments?<\/p>\n<p>Writers have to adapt to their environments or find new ones in order to write.\u00c2\u00a0 They change their schedules to find writing time and if they can&#8217;t write where they live, then they find somewhere else to write.\u00c2\u00a0 If you&#8217;re a writer, how have you adapted to your environment to write?\u00c2\u00a0 Or did you\u00c2\u00a0find more success with a new one?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Isn&#8217;t it amazing how adaptable people and plants are?
