{"id":1640,"date":"2009-07-14T05:31:32","date_gmt":"2009-07-14T09:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=1640"},"modified":"2009-07-10T19:50:56","modified_gmt":"2009-07-10T23:50:56","slug":"dead-witch-walking-by-kim-harrison","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/?p=1640","title":{"rendered":"Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/deadwitchwalking_small.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/deadwitchwalking_small.jpg\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/deadwitchwalking_small.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1661  aligncenter\" title=\"Dead Witch Walking\" src=\"http:\/\/www.amberstults.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/deadwitchwalking_small.jpg\" alt=\"Dead Witch Walking\" width=\"100\" height=\"150\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Over the years I&#8217;ve heard Kim Harrison&#8217;s name and Amazon keeps trying to recommend her Hollows Series to me.\u00c2\u00a0 The titles are all clever takes on movie titles (mostly starring Clint Eastwood).\u00c2\u00a0 It wasn&#8217;t until <a href=\"http:\/\/damiandaily.wordpress.com\/2008\/03\/28\/author-interview-kim-harrison\/#comments\">Lisa Damian&#8217;s interview with Kim Harrison<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0that I decided I would give the series a try.\u00c2\u00a0 She seemed like such a nice person, how could I possibly ignore her novels any longer?<\/p>\n<p>Months later I found myself reading <em>Dead Witch Walking<\/em>, the first in the series.\u00c2\u00a0 In an alternate history, bioengineering created a plague that killed a lot humans.\u00c2\u00a0 This allowed the supernatural inhabitants (Witches, Pixies, Vampires, Weres, etc.) known as Inderlanders to come out of hiding since they were no longer outnumbered.\u00c2\u00a0 Humans moved closer to the cities.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This series features Rachel Morgan, a witch.\u00c2\u00a0 In <em>Dead Witch Walking<\/em>, she&#8217;s an Inderland Security Runner who takes advantage of capturing a leprechan for tax evasion.\u00c2\u00a0 Working for the I.S. isn&#8217;t what Rachel thought it would be and she&#8217;s looking for a way out.\u00c2\u00a0 The leprechaun is her opportunity.\u00c2\u00a0 Before\u00c2\u00a0Rachel knows it, her former I.S. partner, Ivy Tamwood, and her I.S. backup, Jenks, use up the remaining wishes to leave the I.S. too.\u00c2\u00a0 Ivy is one of the best I.S.
